Christmas was in the air. I was buying fish balls at a corner in Pasong Tamo when a kid approached me asking for alms. Feeling generous, I gave him five pesos and some chips. After giving alms to the kid, I saw another boy looked at me in awe. Frustrated, I said to the boy, “Dong, paghati-an niyo na lang ang limang piso ha. ‘Yan lang kasi ang barya ko.” Then I shook my head. Beggars, once you give one, they will always ask for more.
After finishing my thoughts, I heard a mother calling the kid. The kid wasn’t a beggar after all.
